February 2015 – Every Fandom Needs A Dragon AU

I somehow took it into my head that Ancalagon the Black was female, since female reptiles are bigger than the males usually.

I’ve been painting a lot of dragons and snakes and stuff lately and I’ve gotten really efficient at drawing scales. Here is how I do it quickly!

This works best for smooth scales. If your critter is more textured, a similar method with cranked contrast and more highlights works pretty nicely.

Instead of paying attention in my night class I drew some chibi dorf babies instead? They are probably trying to cute themselves out of trouble, it almost certainly works.

So I’m way into drawing Dwarves as Dragons but I thought maybe I should draw Dragons as Dwarves.

Technically the four named dragons in Middle Earth (Glaurung, Ancalagon, Scatha, and Smaug) which is why they’re all so grumpy, but really these could be any group of cranky Dwarves you want.
