can I ask abt the cultural bodytype headcanons you mentioned in the maedhros & finarfin post?

Anyway! There’s obviously a great deal of variation within groups, but stereotypically, Teleri/Sindar are tall, slender, and somewhat ephemeral – the classic Peter Jackson Elves. Because humans mostly interacted with elves of Nelyarin descent, this became the sort of ‘default’. 

Noldor are the shortest group on average, and tend towards stocky, mesomorph-type builds. Noldor have the widest variety of hair color, and all redheaded elves have some Tatyar ancestry somewhere. 

Vanyar are Large, overall – they’re tall, if not quite as long and lanky as the Teleri, and are generally built like lumberjacks. They tend to be fattish, and are unilaterally blond.

From left to right: Ëarwen, Anairë, and Elenwë. The Teleri are not usually that much taller than the Vanyar and Noldor, Elu Thingol and his relations are just unusually gigantic. 

Finwë, Anairë, and Elenwë’s oval ears are the most common elven ear-shape – you find frequently it in all three groups. Ingwë’s wide, round ears are also common among the Vanyar and the Noldor. The tapered point Ëarwen and Thingol are showing is only found in Sindar/Teleri, and is surefire proof of Sindarin heritage. 

Among the Noldor, the Mahtan is an outlier adn should not have been counted, his family are the least Noldo-y looking Noldor probably ever. Why are Turgon and Argon so freaking Tall? Narrative license, they’re tall because Fingolfin was tall, because Indis was exceptionally tall, but they’re not that much loftier than Maedhros and the entire batch of Arafinweans.

Fingon, all nicely trussed up as featured in Spider Silk, which is exceptionally lovely, fluffy, fancy Russingon bondage and you should all go read it at once. 

I wanted to draw some r63 and my Random House of Finwe generator was very insistent I draw Maeglin and Celebrimbor so you get some pre-Fallen Banners I GUESS

I think Maeglin moved closer to Celebrimbor to get out of the way of someone walking in the other direction and Celebrimbor just. Went for the arm-around-the-waist. No child who grew up in the house of Feanor went unhugged for more than like 30 seconds, grabbing is at this point just a reflex. Maeglin, very un-hugged as a child, does not know how to process casual friendly physical contact, or Celebrimbor’s refusal to wear a bra.
